Our friend Barta gave us this awesome camera remote control for an impromtu anniversary gift (8 years of blissful marriage! -love you, Matty!). This means we'll be able to get lots of family photos without having to use the weird timer. Xavier thinks it funny when the camera starts blinking all on it's own.

We headed to Sauvie Island to pick organic strawberries at Bella Organics today. Xavier must have eaten his weight in strawberries. Thank goodness they didn't make us weigh in & out.

The summer berries are here & our garden is bursting with yummy things for Xavier to try. He knows where the strawberries & raspberries & blueberries & cherries are (wah-bwees, waaa-bwees, boo-bwees, & saries respectively) & he always wants to stop & pick a few every time we pass them by.

Grandpa made us delicious lemon pancakes this morning, and he made an extra special one for Xavier. It took two of us & a complex strategy to flip it over.

brews & bbqs & family fun

We met the Winelands in McMinneville for the annual brew fest. Xavier loves playing with Beth. She's always so sweet with him.

Afterward, we went to Grandpa & Grandma's house for a sleepover, and before bed Xavier watched Grandpa & Lola play catch in the street.

a chair of his own

Beth gave us this awesome, ratty, old Adirondack from her garden. It is just Xavier's size. He loves to lounge in it with a good book. He is also fond of standing up on it, all the while he tells himself "no, no!" In fact, I can always tell when Xavier's getting up to something he shouldn't be when I hear his little voice from somewhere in the house saying "no, no!" How nice of him to give me advance notice that he's about to bean himself!
