street performer
It's sorta hard to play the maracas with conviction when you're clutching 4 matchbox cars at the same time.

halloween dry run
We gave the tiger costume another test run & he kept it on for more than 2 minutes this time, but not much longer. He also managed to try a little "roar" which was crazy adorable.

the moon

A few nights ago Xavier discovered the moon hanging in the bright, evening, autumn sky. Ever since then, he tries to find it every time he goes outside. It seems strange to me that he would recognize it from nothing more than it's pictures in books. One day we've got to get out of the city so he can finally see some stars.

x quilt
I am jumping the gun a bit here since I still have to hand stitch the binding, but I am nearly finished with my 2nd quilt only weeks after finishing my 1st! -This one is an X quilt for my baby Xavier. Based on his initial reaction to it, I think he's going to grow quite attached to it....

nature walk
We went for a nature walk this morning at Leach Botanical Gardens. Xavier loved watching the water rush by in Johnson Creek & climbing around on all the rocks & cobblestone paths.

the nature table
I've been reading a bunch of really great Waldorf-related mom blogs lately & was inspired to create a nature table in our home in keeping with some of their traditions. It is a great way for us to invite the out-of-doors into the home & ponder the changing seasons as we study the bits & pieces that accumulate. On our nature walks, Xavier & I find fun little things to add to the mix -a bity, baby pine cone one day, a pretty piece of wood the next day, & so on. I am excited for Xavier to participate in the tradition as he grows older.

market bag mania
They are getting ready to outlaw plastic grocery bags here in Oregon (good riddance!), so I've been sewing up a storm making a bunch of cloth ones. I decided to make a toddler-sized one for X so he can help me with the shopping. He loves his bee bag!

"caka cayons"
Xavier loves his "caka cayons" & could spend hours at his little table just coloring away. Lately he's been having a hard time controlling his impulse to color on the couch. Whenever he heads over to the couch with that goal in mind he says to himself: "no no, couch -caka paper!" over & over again, but apparently the desire is sometimes too strong. Thankfully our furniture is all used crap from Craigslist so we don't get our panties in a bunch about a few scribbles here & there.
